First settled around 1848, Ulverstone and surrounds was built on a timber industry that supported the mid 19th century Gold Rushes in Victoria.

To the West (15-20 mins drive) is the busy port town of Burnie and beyond that the gorgeous towns of Wynyard and Stanley. 

The State Capital, Hobart, is a 3 hour drive south.
